Despite finishing first, I don't think freo are as good this year as they were the year they lost the gf

 

Yeh can't see freo doing it this year. Pretty unconvincing win on the weekend, they will struggle against the hawks even at home given their current form.

 

Is it racist if I say that white people can't dance? Because I'm white and I try to dance all the time and while I imagine inside my head that I'm doing a pretty good job at it, I'm pretty sure I look completely ridiculous to everyone else.

Imagine if Goodes became an umpire once he announces his retirement this week.

 

I boo him cause I simply don't like him. Stages for free kicks, constantly bags Australia and carries on like a pork chop.

I've never booed him because of his race otherwise I would boo all aboriginal players not just him.

I used to boo Lloyd all the time and he's white.

After the display where a freo fan went to punch a hawk player who slid into the fence ( with help from a freo player ) I'm glad freo have been evicted from the finals the same way the offending fan was kicked out of the ground .

@See Change answer this for me. Last night sam Mitchell was constantly booed by the fremantle crowd. From the first bounce to the last. He didn't do a dirty act on field to warrant the booing.

Is that racism and if so why hasn't Mitchell come out this morning carrying on like a pork chop?

 

It is refreshing seeing the afl in "disrepute " rather than nrl copping it all the time!

Probably a good thing it's not 2 wa teams, who knows what would happen with the recent spate of racism and violence.

Booing is part of the game . Has been , always has been and it relates to what is happening on the field

There are certain styles of players and certain actions that result in players being booed .

When plugger took out Peter craven he was continually booed by swans fans every game until he became a swan ......it was a vicious callous act . But they forgave him .

In a specific game , if a player does something " dodgy " they are likely to be booed for the rest of the game .

If a player leaves a club , they are likely to be booed when they turn up to play them.

Then we have certain players who get booed on an ongoing basis . They are normally , very good players who tend to be in your face agro players and these guys take it as a badge of honor that the opposition fans are targeting them . They often incite the opposition fans to boo them . The best example is Jason akermanis who would go out of his way to antagonize opposition fans . That's all part of the theater of the game and anyone with half a brain knows that and accepts that .

Why was Mitchell booed ? Don't know . Didn't really notice it . Not sure of the history between Mitchell & Freo
He is an in your face player . If I have watched every Hawks game ...

I've watched every swans game in recent times . Goodies is not that type of players. You could cherry pick footage from the last years and probably find incidents or pretty close to every player over reacting ...

The worst case of simulation in Aussie sports in recent years in Bershart Barisha and even he doesn't get booed constantly even though he's a repeat offender ....

Out side an occasional incident such as reacting to specific incidents in the context of a game he was not constantly booed until he called out the collingwood supporter for her comments .

His spear throwing incident occurred after he had been constantly booed for close to a year and was a reaction to his frustration at his treatment.

He speech which is used a justification was no more than what has been said by many and he doesn't bag Australia

Reality is you're being an unwitting stooge to right wing commentators such as Alan jones and Ray Hadley who are in only using the story to stir controversy and boost their ratings .

The booing is purely following the crowd behavior which represents the worst in mankind . In this situation the act of booing isn't physically harmful and I'm not saying it's going to escalate to anything more sinister but the reality is the ' let's follow the crowd ' brainwashed behavior is the same behavior that given different circumstances had lead to the worst excesses in human history .

It is bullying and given the publicity around the issue it is disrespectful of one of the true champions of the game .

It is also disrespectful of a tolerant nation

Booing anyone at all who is playing at the highest level of a sport - is pathetic.

I've been to loads of AFL games, and it constantly amazes me how many folks in the audience - who are not good enough to be out there having a crack themselves - slag off the players....especially their own!!

It also amazes me how brave they are to give the opposition a spray from behind the safety of the fence - something they wouldn't do face to face...disrespectful, and gutless.

Why can't folks simply cheer their own players, and say nothing when they stuff up, and say nothing about/to the opposition?

 

I know in my own mind i boo Goodes cause I think he's a flog. Whether he's aboriginal, irish or Greek i couldn't care less. I don't boo lewis jetta, I don't boo majak daw. I booed Mathew Lloyd for years. Last night i bood Hayden ballentyne till I was red in the face simply cause I don't like him. If he was black I'd be labeled a racist by you.

 

Simply because i can and theirs no law that states you cannot boo while watching a game. Players need to have a thick skin otherwise get out.

 

Actually just a side issue, what horrified me this morning was the drunk Docker fan who punched another female supporter, he was drunk. Hope he gets banned forever.
