Not really. Often what you speak of happens where people cross the point of no return. When there is no other option but to rise up.

A father who is a breadwinner will not go to these protest regardless of how much he hates the situation. If he is in prison the family starve.

A daughter who has a disabled or elderly mother wouldn’t go protest if she fears that her mother will lose pension or benefits. Or if she is thrown in a slammer and can’t care for her.

Easier said than done. I worked for aid organisations. People don’t rise up because unlike us, they don’t have savings or insurance to carry them through. From taliban to drug cartels. I see it everywhere. People suffer. Monsters get fatter.

One of my coworkers is Russian. When I checked in with R U OK. The guy teared up. “It’s like when your father tells you to beat up your brother” he said. Gotta love the ability to sum up a whole week of newspapers in one sentence.

That’s why I’m very careful that people on here don’t in any way lump this stupid thing on Russian people or attack the same.

I concur. Pussy riot were sentenced to 2 years for a simple stunt of praying to Putins picture instead of Jesus. Hooliganism. Now imagine the riot charges that are slapped on demonstrators. Definitely not overnight.

It also says the Russians have total air domination in Ukraine.
The Russian army is being terribly underestimated... They are doing exactly what they did in Syria, encircle the big cities, cut off supplies and just wait.

And while that might work in a military sense, politically it would be a disastrous strategy for "winning" in Ukraine.

No arguments there. Putin thinking that they will enter the Ukraine as saviors was a massive blunder.

The driver owner did not sell ... he simply handed over management for the duration so their cannot be any affiliation.

As for "honest businessman" with his massive super yacht? ... from a country of endemic poverty? ... and a supporter of Putin? ... hahahahaha

He sounds like he's completely lost the plot

The Russian leader also said that if Kyiv wanted to talk, it must act now - and if Ukrainians don't accept these conditions, he will obtain the same result by the military path, the source said. Mr Putin denied having bombarded Kyiv and warned that the situation would worsen, but that it was the fault of Ukraine, the source said.

He will fast be running out of friends. Another honest business person loses his yacht. Especially after years of paying a large retainer.

Prominent propogandist is blaming Putin? I think not..

While Abramovich (who I imagine has become quite sympathetic to the west after spending so much time in London) intends to direct his profits from the sale of Chelsea towards Ukraine refugees, I don't think this will be publicised in russia..

Ultimately the sanctions which affect russian ppl will be spun by their propogandists to create more hate..
