"3. Auckland, New Zealand -- The city is based around two large harbours and nearly tops the list again with its well-balanced economy, idyllic environment, and high levels of personal safety."
    well-balanced economy - Really??

Sydney is THE best city in Australia :)

Spent 9 years in number 2 Zurich, can agree the best quality of life city I've lived in, beats London by miles and gives Sydney a run for its money. 7 German cities in the list ? seems a bit dodgy, prefer Barcelona over any of them.

I'm in tokyo atm. Much cleaner than Sydney. Less traffic. Safer. Yet 5×bigger.

    No beaches but...

The obvious point is that each of these cities offer incredible/absolutely crap options depending on budget. Isn't that why most of us are here, doesn't money usually determine our options?

    Singapore, skyscrapers, no green space...
    Stuttgart, illegal immigrants...
    Perth, no jobs...
    Stockholm, illegal immigrants...
Hamburg, the ****** that never sleeps...
    I dunno.

Pretty good right now. Reminds me of nz hot and cold as summer emerges. But no winter feel really. Would be great in summer.
Awesome place. Definitely has its stuff together. Australia has to only be wealthy because of minerals idk because these fellas make Aussies look like slobs and disorganised and obstinantly stuck in the past. Not saying they don't have their problems too though.

    Yes it does.

Also considering what is happening in some parts of the world, Australia feels safe that is pretty important to me.

Yeah, I definitely find it one of the safes places to be, although I've only been to Tokyo.
Will be heading to some other places this time.

Guess you have not been there? Singapore has huge sections of green space.

If I were to pick a city in Asia it would be Singapore. Safe, great food, excellent transport and a flight hub to the world.

I have been to Vancouver and Singapore (and several parts of Europe). These are two cities I had heard were nice and I could happily live in both. I believe we in OZ have a lot to learn from Singapore and everywhere else really where they have far greater populations and plenty of clean (recycled) water and renewable energy production.

These types of rankings are very subjective & biased as they are dependant upon an assumed formula & empirical data that has its own inherent shortcomings/assumptions

Canberra was a great place to live for us once upon a time though....
