It was Sydney and it was peak hour. So it was always busy. He was in the first station on the line, I was on the next station, and it just got more crowded along the way.

If you grow your own and sell on the local market you must not sell for less than $2.01 a kilo to protect our local growers :)

I'm with you - more than happy to pay a few cents more for local - refuse to buy unseasonable fruit and vege from overseas - and gladly pay for "named" brands rather than supermarket brand

    p.s. Looooooooove fresh shucked oysters!

The buy fresh direct from the grower ... garlic undergoes an enzyme change when it's cold stored (fridge or basement) that makes the consumer smell ... fresh garlic, that has never been cold stored will not make you smell.

Trust me - I've tested this theory very well

Can you tell me where I can get locally grown garlic at anywhere near that price? We bought some monster garlic a couple of weeks ago, each clove is bigger than many of the imported white bulbs that you get in the supermarket.

I think you'll find that is only bulk wholesale imported **** at that price.

As for your monster bulb. That is a type of leek called Elephant Garlic - also known as Garleek - and often mistakenly called Russian Garlic. It's actually a leek that throws to garlic with a very, very mild taste - can be eaten raw so great for salads and things - also makes a yummy black (fermented) garlic - but not much chop if you're wanting it to add to flavour a cooked dish

Lucky I'm wearing my recession proof undergarments.

Hey, didn't the dow drop that amount a few weeks ago and then rebound. Oh, yeah, this time it's different.

We'll know for sure by the end of the year, but there is a more than just the Dow.

Tariff war, Hong Kong, China slowing, global low interest rates, brexit etc

Apparently - and according to my posted video above - when the short term bonds have a higher interest rate than the long term, historically (since 1950's) a recession follows.

Combined with ... "Dire economic data from China and Germany suggested a faltering global economy, stricken by the increasingly belligerent US-China trade war, Brexit woes and geopolitical tensions." ... "When you've got $US15 trillion in global government debt at negative yields, that's a new animal."

The one piece of data that sent US stocks plunging

Apparently every recession has been preceded by an inverted yield curve - but not every inverted yield curve has resulted in a recession.

However, latest figures show a quarterly GDP growth in the US of just 2%, well down on a year ago. China's economy has been slowing for a while. England's economy has not been doing well, and a hard Brexit won't help. Other European countries have had declining economies. It would be difficult for Australia not to head the same way.

    Australia’s staggering reliance on China

Whilst there are a number of $$$ errors within the article, it put things into perspective and provides a quantitative link between Australia and China. Definitely our most important trading partner for products.
