Very impressed by whoever turned this sad and dumpy little house at 28 Grassmere Road, Killara

Would love to know how much they spent and the equity gain made. Bought for $1.08m in 2007... probably worth $4m+ now :cool:

Anyone else seen some other impressive rejuvenation's lately?

Omg!!!! Love it!!! Stunning change from ugly duckling to a swan. Wonder if the owner is an architect or something similar.

    Kudos.

From the photos it just looks like it was bulldozed and rebuilt

    Yep, was demolished early 2010.

Now thinking titling the thread as a reno wasn't exactly reflective of the undertaking :p

It definitely fulfills the criteria for street appeal
is it still classed as a reno if at least the letterbox is original? :p

LOL....Surely not...there's character there I'm just not the creative type to bring it into this decade.
Maybe something like this, but not...

@Shady - clad the columns/chimney in rough hewn stone and give it the Walter Burley Griffin look.

One the Grand Designs Australia had a Victorian couple "renovating" their house. The only requirement for it to be classed as a renovation was that one wall had to be left - one wall! So they did that, then IIRC the builder accidentally knocked the wall down. That turned it into a new build and permitted the people behind to complain and lodge council stuff. Held the build up for a year+ and they then had to change their footprint substantially.

So this could well have been a "renovation" in a technical sense :p.

Can you turn it into a 'Palm Springs Mid-Century Modern'?? One of my favourite styles... A bulldozer may be needed?

I wish..... it doesn't have any where near the potential of those ones....

Seems I've now tied it up so see attached.
Flying up tomorrow afternoon for a another look around. I've been there for all of 15 minutes.
Compared to my last purchase this one looks great ;)
