    Congratulations on the retirement!

As a young investor with two IPs myself, this gives me great motivation to pursue investing. As you I tried to keep my investing quiet at work but it gets out and people think you're crazy for setting your own future up.

Congratulations again and enjoy the retirement ! :)

    Congratulations!

You can now travel the world and work will never get in the way.....:p

Maybe you can be the poster girl for the govt for self-funded retirees for the govt. ;)

On a more serious...note this would be an excellent story for the API..it will resonate well for coming retiring hordes of X Gens coming up to retirement...might be too late for some baby boomers.

Thanks @sash. Bit of a boring story. As I mentioned, we don't have massive amounts of cash flow, but enough to live the life we want. I am looking forward to not having to stress out about getting flights at the end of school holidays.

@skater thanks! Just finished my school reports so I can start counting down the days now. 5 weeks to go.
We want to go to South America too. But Ian only wants to cruise so I may do the land based then he can join me for a Panama cruise.

We can talk holidays on Wednesday night. LOL I'm flying home on Tuesday now so should be there early.

Not to worry....going business class on Qantas has its merits. ;) The airfares cost a packet especially during peak time..so you are ahead already. Are you still getting hubby's Qantas benefots or has that now been stopped?

I figured put if I pay all the bills on my IPs with a credit card...I can get a couple flights to Asia every 14 months or so.

Traveling whilst retired is great...because you can get great Airfares and deals if you are prepared to travel on the drop of dime. I saw one where there was a 10 day River Cruise through the Danube for less than $2500/person a couple of months ago....also the Russian Volga River Cruises for 2500.

Haha, thankyou! I'm not very good though. I find I can comprehend the written word (so long as it's stuff I've learnt), but actually getting my brain around thinking of the words to say, is quite hard.

Correct $291. And that's for anyone, not just staff rates. Last minute deals are always around Feb-March and end Oct- mid December. Keep your eyes open.
I'm keeping Nov- Dec free next year.
And looking for Feb deals now. If you are interested I. A oarticular itinerary and time let me know and I'll pass on anything I see.

Over 15 years I think you get lifetime. As he was permanent 10 years we get 10 years after he retired. That's why I need to get the Northern Hemisphere out if my system. LOL

That's an awesome price on that cruise. I'd be interested in knowing if something great like that shows up. I've already got one booked for Feb next year, but can't go this time of year until we get rid of the Business. It could take a while, because it's being used to pay down Trust debts.

Wow $291..that is bloody incredible..can you please PM the sites you are looking at.

Yes the airfares help...can save you heaps particularly during peak.

One of the reasons why retiring is great you don't have to get ok to go on leave with the boss. There are certain time...they will not approve leave. In anycase I usually like to travel in April/May or late Aug-early Oct.

WOW! Someone liked this post yesterday so it jumped up on my alerts list.

I forgot I posted this. 7 years ago next month. Can't believe it.

    So an update.
We travelled almost fulltime for 4 years. Overseas for 3 months, home for a few weeks then back overseas or in our motorhome.
Below is what we did for 4 years. A lot of people said I was crazy retiring on a very low cashflow but I wouldn't change it for the world.
we sold half our portfolio over the first few years which gave us enough to live on.
Yes, if we had kept them I'd have more money but we have more than enough cashflow to live on.
At the end of 2019 my hubby was sick of me dragging him around the world and wanted to settle. So in 2020 we moved to the Gold Coast. Life is amazing! I'm back in travel mode. A few cruises this year then heading to Europe early next year. My camera has sadly been neglected for the last 2 years. Making up for it next year for sure.
