For longer than I can remember I feel like I'm peddling flat out but not getting any further ahead (not talking financial) - I make the best possible decisions with the information at hand but the results never seem to turn out quite right - I try and keep it all together yet feel like I'm constantly undermined by factors outside my control

    I'm so over this adulting

I wish things were simple again

Things only mean as much as the meaning we choose to attach to them.

Generally a shift in mindset/expectation/attitude may change the way we feel about certain outcomes.

    Which is within our control.

    Keep that chin up!

I know someone who had it all. Lets call him Scammo. OK the house belonged to the Government but he had all new furniture, massive TV, sports car etc etc

One day I popped around and there was a push bike on the front porch, no car, no TV, no lounge, only an old dining table, fridge and a bed.

I asked him if he suddenly became a minimalist. He told me the sheriff came around and cleaned the place out lol.

But he's happier because his life has got a lot simplier even though I know he will scam his way back to the top one day.

I hear ya' @Lizzie - And you're probably fed up watching those who work/try half as much as you seeming to get further ahead. I think karma is a load of crap, too.

Ah - it's just life used to be simpler as a younger adult. The days when I didn't have much more to do than go to the beach on the weekends and read design magazines.

Nowadays the simple things seem to get complicated. In the last week ...

Tiny stuff like ... the ride on mower keeps throwing it's drive belt but the service guy won't pick it up in case the drive belt comes off while it's loading/unloading - or - the hand made sculpture I ordered from an American artist doesn't look quite like I expected when it arrives and I'm not sure if I like it.

Little stuff like ... ordering 100kg of garlic seed to refresh your planting stock, only to have it arrive riddled with disease and rotting and completely un-usable and having to fight tooth and nail to get a refund, then scrabbling around trying to find a new supplier when everyone's sold out - or - wardrobe insides and doors went in this week and look fabulous, hubby grumbling because install took "so long" (they were black so took extra care), teen not happy because she has 3 doors along the 3m length and can only open 1/3rd at a time.

Right through to big stuff like ... concerns that aspects of our SMSF may have been set up by our "sacked" accountant incorrectly - and trying to find a SMSF accountant specialist who's prepared to give us advice on what to do about it (harder to find than you think) - and the stress that we may lose the right to operate a SMSF - which really sucks when we've increased it's value by 50% in 4 years (show me a managed fund that can do that) and we have stringently operated by the rules, but my haphazard bookkeeping (everything is receipted, documented and cross referenced) is also a threat.

I'm so over everything being so hard

Sounds like you need a holiday.
And also, lower your expectations of others, it will make things much better.

    I get you @Lizzie

There are times when hills that I’d usually skip over really feel like I’m climbing a mountain.

Tempting - but it won't get anything solved. Yet ever week seems to bring up fresh issues.

    Feeling a little "groundhoggy day"

    I hear you.......

Yesterday I had a big order come in from the USA. I bought a heap of kids helmets in pink, but they sent me khaki green & grey. Then they overcharged me, AND charged USD250 more in shipping that they normally do.

One thing that always works for me when in situations like this is to take the attitude of - Challenges are Opportunities.
If you truly take this attitude it helps you through the issues in a positive way and the outcome is always better than before the problems.

Look for what you gain from the solutions to these problems, either new skills or new approaches to dealing with and prevent future issues.
New opportunity then arise when you approach with the right attitude and you fight harder when it’s a challenge rather than a chore.

That's all life is. One problem being solved after another. Doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, busy or have all the time in the world. One problem after another. Hopefully you're exchanging crappy problems for better ones but problems none the less.

    Solving problems is hugely satisfying.
Generally, the winners at life are the ones who solve the most problems, either their own or those of others.

Maybe you're Stressed Out! You might have something in common with this song. (And if the number of views is anything to go by - you're not the only one! At one time I believe it was Top 20 most viewed on YouTube, but has just moved outside Top 50)

Yep but it's across the board. Problems are a part of life, we need problems. Ever seen an old person blowing up deluxe over something that is seemingly trivial? It's cause they need a problem. People will even invent a problem if they have to.
