hard to say, last week i maybe did 10-15 hours the entire week as i had some friends in town and some personal matters to attend to but have done way over that on sunday night/monday morning and tonight alone.

i like the fluctuations in working hours to be honest

Paid employment: officially 24 hours a week, but sometimes do extra from home.

There were years where I regularly did the 9am to 1am thing, but that was in my youth and I'm way too old for that now (when working for someone else).

On average I voted 41-50 but that consists of 4 weeks of 84hrs and the following 4 weeks at 0hrs.

Any ideas on a second job that you can work every other month?

Not sure, 40-80 depending on the week.
I start at 6:30-7, am usually running around all day meeting clients and consultants, looking at sites and projects and only get a few offices hours done during the day. I usually try to head back into the office in the arvo and will be there until 6-7 then head home and will do some work at home on my iPad. Will work Saturday and Sunday depending on other commitments and the weather ;)

At the office from 9 - 5 most days but if you include "extra ciricular" activities its more like 50-60 hours work but I dont count as I enjoy most of it, most of the time.

    Yes :)

Average worker does 2 hours productive work out of 8. Read that somewhere and sounds about right.

    That seems a bit ridiculous.
I don't believe there is such a thing as an average worker.
There are good workers and bad workers.
You are either one or the other.

There is an average everything. To believe otherwise is to simply ignore the truth.

The thing about averages is that there is no requirement for a single datapoint to be average (unless there is only a single datapoint)

I think I am probably putting in a few more hours today than when I originally posted on this thread.
Thing is if you enjoy what you are doing then its really not a job, does not mean it is without stress though.

That's the median, not the average.

While the mean is generally considered the average of lay people. It's just one type of average, just the like the median is another type of average.

I suppose in this context it's best to be specific.

Mean generally refers to arithmetic mean, which is the same as the average. Sum all the numbers and divide by the count of the numbers.

Median is the number in the middle of a range of numbers.

    For instance if we have the numbers 1 2 3 4 10.

Add them together to get 20. Divide by the count of the numbers (5)- the average is 4.

The median is the number in the middle which is 3.

There are geometric means and harmonic means, but when people refer to the mean they normally refer to the arithmetic mean.

But that's just being mean, if you know what I mean.

That poses an interesting question, I wonder how many productive hours public servants do per week

I read a stat recentley where 70-90% of revenue collected by the government (aka tax) is used to adminster the governemnt and only 10-30% goes towards what it is intended for, education, transport networks, healthcare etc.

If that ^^^^^is true then your question is answered :)
