    A bit peeved at realestate.com.au a billion dollar company (guess) can't get its search logic right (or I'm a crappy user blaming a fine system) - I put in Melbourne City - Greater Region (its one of the dropdown menu choices) and specify some other criteria (e.g. min land size or keywords etc) but always returns 0 choices. But if I search at a suburb level e.g. if I type in Footscray, then I get some results even with the same criteria. So how does one search the entire metropolitan area?

    Try a map area search, then use filters for type, price and number of bedrooms. Scroll in or out to expand/contract search area.

    Then select list to display findings? I usually don't do it this way, I use it more to learn the suburb geography in a city I'm unfamiliar with.
    Once I have a few suburbs in mind then I use more filtered searches.

    @scientist

    No idea how you did the search - came back with 2750 properties just then........!

    What criteria did you enter?

    This is a screenshot of what I see - Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

    182 results with 0 criteria for the greater region search. Searching Melbourne City gives me CBD only which isn't what I want. And there's no other category to get the entire metro area.

    @HUGH72 thanks but with map search, it's great for quickly sussing out locations of things but you can't combine it with criteria, e.g. if I want min block size 600sqm, I need the list mode and then I'm back to my original problem.

    Yeah, agree - it's stuffed.

    And don't try searching on land size - Melb agents rarely put a number in there.

    I don't understand why they wouldn't - if they're selling something with weak land size then I understand not mentioning it, but for big blocks, it's a huge positive point, why wouldn't they enter it to gain more search traction?

    There's other bits of stupid too - for example if searching keywords in map mode, it can handle 1 word, but 2 or more words and it will return 0 results always - i tried putting them in quotes too, nada

    Would not have expected this level of finish for such a large website
