House paint - internal - Muswellbrook

Hi all,
My IP has recently been vacated and it has been suggested by my PM to have the entire inside of the house painted. Ceilings, walls, doors and skirts.
Standard size 3 bed, 1 bath, 1 living area place
First quote came back at $10,500.
Waiting for another to come through.

This quote seems quite high to me.
Is it ?
Also any painter recommendations for the Muswellbrook area would be great too.

If you're spending reasonable coin, the least the PM could so is to get 3 quotes.

$10k does sound high for 3/1. I'd expect $3-4k less depending upon the condition of the house.

No painter is worth that money what a joke. Must have too much on up in muso.

I painted a single storey 4 bed 3 bath took 4 weeks new plaster. So 1 coat undercoat, 2 coat paint and 1k in paint

 

That was the reasoning behind the price of the first quote.
All trades out there are flat out apparently

 

Use someone from Sydney and pay the accommodation - 4 days x 2 rooms at the Railway Hotel, meals & a happy ending all for less than $1k.

 

You can post the job yourself on hipages and see what the trades send.
My quote for similar house ranges from 9K to 5K - same scope, this is for a house with wall full of Tar stain

 

Recent full paint of inside of my house was 6K.

2 coats on walls,trim and new doors

 

I actually put the job on Hipages this morning and already have 1 guy going to quote today.
Hopefully at a far more reasonable price.

 

When you get the quote, check his ABN, that he's registered for gst (If he is quoting inclusive of gst) & that they have a licence from fair trading & you sight it.

 

As above, check ABN, registration of GST, and licensing, also what is their insurance provisions? Doing business with an insured, licensed and reputable painter makes a lot of difference to your IP's condition
