Hi Everyone,

My name is Gordon. I am located on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and in the interest of full disclosure I am the CIO of Otium Group an SMSF Property Specialist business made up of both CA's and FP's (we make them 'hug it out' pretty regularly). I am 100% technical which is to say I am the IT guy and just make the place tick, I don't / can't really help you in any way shape or form with SMSF Property questions personally. BUT, I do know a few guys if you need something answered, by all means come at me, we live for content and helpful marketing (I think we are close to our 300th blog now?) so I have already approached Simon today about getting some of our key staff involved in the forum to dispel some superannuation myths and hopefully be of use to the community.

I found the forum after chatting to a real estate agent family member of mine last night about how the commentary around negative gearing is going at the moment and I am frankly bewildered at the level of vitriol (that Waleed segment on The Project the other night!!) yikes! Interested to hear what property investors are thinking on that one at the moment.

I currently have only my PPOR debt to service (well and a third child coming in a few weeks) and as you can imagine that third kid makes you stop and think, gee I am going to have to pay for all this soon enough, I better get serious about my wealth strategy. So my wife and I are definately keen to play a smarter game with our investing and I use to lurk around the old SS forums which is how I found my way here today!

Agree with your comments on Waleed-segment in Project.

 

Hey Gordon, welcome aboard.
Not sure if you're for or against Waleed, I think he's got a brain, but rarely agree with him - or any of them on that show for that matter. But I don't watch commercial TV anymore.
If they were to fiddle with NG, they would need to fiddle with stamp duty and/or CGT:
Why stamp duty has to go

Apologies to clarify I thought that Waleed's segment on NG was a little over dramatic for the sake of getting some social media shares. I agree he is a very smart cookie and usually I find myself nodding along with his opinions.

Yep, I'm getting tired of the lefty media forcing their agenda. Most of the talking heads are on salaries of well over $300k a year but will act like the world should be run with hugs and unicorn farts. The most unpragmatic group of people are the left.
