My next door neighbour has had an overflowing drain for a couple of weeks, at times the pool of stinky water is 15cms deep. I have asked him to have it fixed, but to no avail. I have just walked into my bedroom and have to shut the window because of the stench, just what I need on this warm no wind night.
Our side paths are adjacent and the drain is on the front corner of his home, he wont spend a penny on his property.
    What can I do?

It's a health issue, pass it on to the council's health inspector.

They would be obliged to maintain the septic in good working order. If it's a sewer, then the council or authority will investigate.

Thanks for the reply and advice, have logged a complaint with Council's Health Dept, however it can take up to 6 weeks before a resolution is reached ....
I just hope the cooler weather arrives so closed windows dont matter.

Call a local plumber and request a quote on their behalf. Let them come out. However you remain anonymous ;)

Or call water authority and play dum and says there's a leaky pipe at your neighbours

A few door knocks might push them along
