    Dear PC community,
I need your collective wisdom on this please.
I hired a builder to do a bathroom reno project in March, the contract completion date is Mid-April for 4 weeks. Now 15 weeks has passed and the project is still unfinished. I’ve had enough of all his lies and excuses and decided to fire him and I will arrange plumber and electrician to come over and finish the work. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has done this before? He was in breach of the contract first but I’m concerned that if I fire him he will take me to VCAT, so what would be the best strategy from here? If I to go and consult a lawyer, should it be a building lawyer or a commercial lawyer? Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

PS: I have documented the issue back in April as below, I wish I should have fired him back then.
Bathroom reno drama, who’s at fault? Plumber or the Builder?

Get legal advice from a solicitor to avoid paying twice. You may need to initiate a VCAT judgement.
