    I re read your question
All the properties are self funding so no servicing from australia needed

self funding in terms of loan repayments? Did you get the loan in the country where property exists?

Yes but HK had no loans.
But tax is low in HK
Only 15pc hence no need for loans (interest has no tax)

Go here: General Property Chat (I *think* that's the best place for it at the moment, seeing as we don't have an interviews section yet).

Then click the "Post New Thread" button at the bottom of the page.

Then tell us e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. (Just kidding - whatever you are comfortable telling, of course.)

    Please. :D

Are you not an Australian tax resident? Otherwise I'm not sure how HK's tax rate is relevant to the tax that you're paying on your investments or really a consideration for the investment?

Well done on the amazing portfolio, that's some serious semi-passive income you've got going on!

Dude there is nothing boring about 1.9 freaking million dollars!!
I would also love to know how you even begin to invest in an overseas market.

I am a NZer and a Australian tax resident but a temporary tax resident so not taxed within Australia on overseas sourced income unlike a Australian or NZer that is a permanent tax resident

    So given the choice .....
    Would you prefer to
pay 15pc on the net profit (in HK) or 45%+ in Australia or 33% in NZ
pay Land Tax in Australia or none in NZ and HK
pay Stamp Duty in Australia and HK or none in NZ
pay Capital gains tax in Australia or none in HK and NZ
pay tax on the interest on Spare funds ib Australia at 45%+ or nothing in HK or 2% in NZ
its our choice to have more to re-invest or less to re-invest...that's the relevance

    thanks for Sharing
I think Australian tax for property investors/developers suck big time, I am paying stamp duty, GST, and tax at 30% on sale of developments. Two can play at this game, I have a very smart accountant on board now:)
