Gratitude post * Ok, one of my tenants decided to pay half rent. * Airbnb is a bit down the toilet right now. * Can’t do some things due to the lockdown, like play volleyball or do aerial tissue classes * Super went down * Was going to go to France in July, that’s been postponed till 2021 but.... * Still got my health (recovered from Ankle surgery end of Feb), my job, my home. Nobody I know has Covid * Love working from home, saving 2 hours commuting everyday, don’t have to go out in horrible weather. * I’m learning new Unicycling skills, so happy about that * Not spending as much money * House is cleaner and a great place to be * We can bike ride and unicycle ride * I can attend zoom Pilates, HIIT, yoga classes * Still accumulating annual leave and hope to be able to use it sometime * Air is cleaner!
Super is down a little but considering it was down 60K when this first started and it has recovered 40K I am pretty okay with it. Nothing else bad for me really . Work from home rocks Saving loads of money More connected with my friends as we spend time together in smaller groups and it's quality time at each others houses We are having more adventures, cooking funky things, driving to different places.
+ve : still have health and most wealth, had kids more often without school and we did some fun stuff. OZ kept Covid out of nursing homes (mum). Reevaluated things. Did some new things. -ve : lost a load of money (capital and income), lost strength fitness, lost sobriety, lost some sanity, lost another trip to Australia this year, kids suffered a lot needlessly from forced 24hr quarantine, lost all sport, know a few people who had covid but only one died (one of the founders of Castellers de Barcelona). Isolation, except for small greetings have not spoken to an adult in person for 11 weeks.
- I stopped working just before lockdown, so was able to easily support my kids in their home schooling - despite my not working, we are still saving money - massive reduction in expenses has kind of shown what we are actually capable of - and we are not exactly scrimping here (alcohol budget may have actually gone up!). I'm excited to get back to work and maintain some of the forced frugality! - have had time to get my taxes done! (and get ready for next EOFY) - have acquired a bunch of new board games, and have been enjoying those cheers, Inertia
Sounds like you are doing great! I actually finally did a whole lot of tax stuff for one on my IPs on Sunday (the weather wasn't nice anyway)... dislike doing that sort of thing, but it had to be done, and I'm happy it's been done!
Very grateful to be residing in a coastal region during this pandemic outbreak. Life, thankfully maintained a fair degree of normality with only minor hiccups (not seeing grandsons) for a short period. We should be very pleased to be living in Australia!
I posted this on Facebook a month and a half ago. Not property related, but still relevant, I think. Covid 19 sucks! No question about it. But as most clouds have a silver lining, so does this situation. Here are some of mine: * "Son" is speaking more and more German as I'm spending more time with him than I normally would. * "Wife", "Son" and I been doing lots of fun family activities together. * Commute to work takes seconds, as does getting ready for it. * Work is definitely less stressful now. * More time for gardening. * Significantly lower carbon emissions. * Lots of time to catch up on trashy TV (should this really be in the positive column?) * Getting more sleep.
