I am planning to build a granny flat for investment purpose. However it is illegal in brisbane. As the land and the main building belong to my parents, the builder suggest me, if my parent rent it to me, and I rent one or two bedrooms out to stranger, it will be lawful. Is it right or not at all please?
Just do a search within the site and read all you can about granny flats within the BCC footprint..Your builder just may want to make a sale ..
Must be used by one household who has the intention of living together for the longer term (3months plus). Doesn't sound like what you are proposing is compliant.
Don’t take legal advice from a builder! Especially one who is trying to sell to you. Check with the Council. But if you build a granny flat and you live in it, it will not be an IP but your own PPOR. and will belong to your parents. Sounds messy. Marg
You are being lied to. It is not legal for you to rent to a stranger as you proposed within BCC. Listen to RPI
