Hi all, my first post since moving from SS...

Am going through the works of building a granny flat. I am curious if people have got a handover or building inspection done?
    If so... Any particular recommendations?
I would assume that a granny flat would be just like any other building and all inspectors would naturally know how to conduct one?

I called a 3 random inspectors and they are quoting $500-600... for a granny flat!

I can only seem to find a single thread here (none on SS) regarding this - so i didn't know if the inspectors are pulling my leg and just charging for the sake of getting out of their car to another new site.

$500 to $600 sounds reasonable to me provided they are actually doing a thorough inspection and report.
Being smaller doesn't mean it will be any quicker getting to site, not much quicker to write a report and the client is likely to have just as many questions as on a bigger build once the report is submitted.
An alternative may be if you have a builder friend that you can bribe with a carton or 2 to come and have a look!

Where is the love shack being built?
@Brian84 you accept cases as payment?

There would be a bit in it, reading plans, contacts and specifications etc to check its built how it was agreed. Plus time to get to site and have a good look around.

    In Blacktown.
My last handover in QLD I don't recall the inspector reading any plans in hand though I did send it to them.

On first thought this sounds overly expensive (for a little love shack)

If you need some help then send me a message and we might be able to work something out. I am a building inspector from Liverpool.

Thanks bob, it may cost a few cases but it won't be $500 worth :D

How about I send you both a few cases and call it even? ;)
