Gday everyone! I never introduced myself on the Somersoft Forums (I know a lot of people here are from SS ) so thought I should do so here. My name is Kael, I'm a 24 year old full time student, who also works part-time doing anywhere between 15 and 36 hours a week. I started investing in residential property 4 years ago when I was working full time as a supermarket manager. I'm only young, I know, but I love real estate and am constantly seeking more information and learning. My current portfolio (even though it's small ): 2011, Brookfield, VIC 2012, Quakers Hill, NSW Other hobbies include things such as playing sport, the Xbox, researching property and investment options, and exploring our great country. Looking forward to talking to you all soon!
Agreed 100%! Love just taking road trips and exploring. Thank you I'd love to try for more but we'll see how I go
Amazing start Kael!! Love hearing young people's stories. Good time to buy and i bet the equity gains you've made will hold you in awesome stead for whatever next. Younger people tend to struggle the most with this part (having deposits at 24 can be tough), great start! Also love exploring Australia. My partner and I have done a lot of this over the course of the last 3 years (albeit just on the eastern part of Aus). Great people, great cafes, great fun!
Thanks Redom I'm going to see my mortgage broker next week. Even though I only work "part-time", with the high amount of hours I get and the weekly pay I receive, my mortgage broker thinks I might be able to go for another one. Fingers crossed!
Kael, 2012, Quakers Hill, NSW, would be a great decision you made when you were just 21, and timely purchase too.
Thank you It was a PPOR purchase but I'm a firm believer that wherever you make your PPOR, you should also look at it from an investment point of view so you're safe. It's now an IP, which is doing great for me I attempted to purchase it pretty quickly after it came on market. Missed out on a different one where the owners wanted far too much in my opinion and I wasn't willing to budge. Lost that one and literally the next day, my one came on market. After a second inspection, I put an offer in only to find out that the other group who were at the open home had also put an offer in that was accepted. Fortunately for me, their contract fell through because of finance and the real estate agent rang me a week or two later, I put in the same offer and got it. I was very happy with my purchase
Cont Very smart choice buying Quakers Hill back in 2012, mind share what motivate you to buy there and also did you bought further north from station or down south from station?
It was an affordable area that I thought was undervalued compared to other areas. It also backs onto Acacia Gardens, The Ponds and Stanhope Gardens, which I thought was good. Has a lot of good schools in the area also and is within close distance to transport options. Was also a great house. I bought south of the station.
Nice to meet someone that share similar mindsets with me, when I looked at it a lot of my friends said it is way too far lucky I ignored them loving the environment there and mine's the south side as well
Well done Kael. You've placed yourself in a wonderful position for someone your age... Keep up the great work.
