Sorry but I don't put any credibility on some advertorial press release by a human resources company like Hayes - it's just baseless guff.

Nope. Someone will find a way to offshore them.

Accounting firms will see a big change in the next 5-8 years with teams of philopino a trained and managed by an Aussie here doing compliance work over there for 1/10 of the cost.
I'm not making this up - it's already happening..
It will allow smaller firms to either
1: compete on price much more aggressively
2: make compliance work cheap and concentrate on the value add work which will set them apart from other firms.

They didn't mention human resources as a future job. That's a fail. I thought that would have been a given.

I personally no jobs will ever be future proof and that people will always need to update their skills and knowledge to 'keep up' with the industry.

    Yup..this is correct.
Either keep up or better stll- be ahead of the curve. That way, you will be ahead of your competitors and in demand

There is one kind of job that is future proof.
As they say, it is one of the oldest standing professions.

Technology has brought a lot of amateurs into that profession.

It's actually reassuring that HR Hitlers is not on their 'jobs of the future' list, society might become a better place.

Dog walkers are 100% future proof. Can't offshore them.

I think people look at this wrongly. Focus on being a value adder. If youre someone who can go into many different businesses across industries and add value/improve it you'll never be short of job offers.

    No doubt.

My accountant has hand-passed my account over to one of his Staff (who is pretty good) - I've never met him.

He could be in Greenland for all I know.

At least I can understand what he says....for now. o_O

It's plain ignorant to think any job is future proof.

150 years ago almost everyone on earth worked on a farm.

A job at a golf course Pro Shop is pretty much future proof.

And there is a real issue at the moment. For example, shortage of lawyers in certain practice areas but graduate opportunities are terrible. Had to get experience when you can't get a job in the first place.

People are starting to charge graduate lawyers and accountants to accumulate the necessary work experience, that is never a good sign.

Go to the outsourcing centres in the Phillipines and there are floors of people with masters in accounting doing outsourced work for Australians. There are lawyers doing the same things in India, not Phillipines as yet but am sure it is coming.

I used to say accounting - but agree - probably getting off-shored. Auditing however stay onshore.

Medico's and related business - GP, Nurses, Surgeons, Ambo's etc - hard to do remotely.
