... but it wasn't "political" - there was no politicking going on. I suspect the low ratings and accusations of politicising was from those who had a grudge or vengeance without watching it.

A show doesn't have to be political per se for it to be judged as one. It's obviously all about a political figure, and that is bound to raise feelings, one way or the other.

Some of the negative ratings were full of vitriol against the Obamas, with little evidence that they had watched it.

But it is typical of the reviews of any film with a political theme, and I had expected to see exactly that before I even started reading the reviews.

    Where is it being shown?

    Corazon Aquino.
In Spanish, her name is literally - heart - here, no.

    Very apt.

It's far enough in the past that people can watch it without emotion, and hence judge the content on its merit rather than bias

I often read reviews - there's so much rubbish out there.

But sometimes I use a very big grain of salt, especially there is an obvious leaning.

I've found some hidden gems by taking the time to comb through IMDb listings, and reading reviews. I would have missed a lot of I'd just chose to start watching something. But that's just me.

I've relied on reviews ever since Leonard Maltin's movie review book, years before the internet.
