I'm looking for a word or phrase to use to convey the feeling of... "Fits like a glove, but not quite". What's a good way to say that?

    e.g. it's a 90% good fit.
or "Satisfactory" vs. "Dream". Vast difference.

But I don't want to say satisfactory or acceptable.

misread the post... but 'fits like a glove' implies a perfect fit.

Close but no cigar imples that it is not satisfactory

A few sandwiches short of a picnic (but this may not quite be the meaning you're after).

One sandwich short of a picnic. (but also implies not a great fit)
