And don't forget the good ol' wood fired heaters. Cough, cough, splutter.

There is a greater move to reverse cycle air-con. It's more effective and less expensive in the long run, particularly in conjunction with renewable energy .

    Transitioning from gas to electric

I am wondering why you'd choose to be in Canbrrrrr rather than at the Sunshine Coast. Cause I know what I'd prefer of the 2, and it's not Canbrrrr....

Crowds. Easier to avoid them, minimal little air pollution (every time I head to Sydney can feel the grit landing on me as I step out of the airport, same with Brisbane and other centres,) easy access to the coast, bush and high country, can commute from one side of town to the other in about 30 minutes despite assertions to the contrary, good health care system notwithstanding the complaints from some, access to a large open spaces of great beauty. The cold is only for a relatively short time and appropriate clothing can easily accommodate that. Plus it is brilliant in its own way.

    Fair enough!
I just know, my sister was living in Wagga for a while, went to visit her, stepped out of a car one evening and it was 6 degrees, whereas it would have been around 16 degrees in Sydney at that same time.

I've never liked gas. I've always thought it posed a danger with kids around. Now apparently it's been shown that emissions from gas hearing cause an increase in childhood asthma.

We had in ceiling heating for many years, but now it doesn't work in some of the rooms, so we've got reverse cycle.

We've loved Canberra for bringing up a family. The facilities (including education) are great, and it's easy to get around and to tour. Once our daughters started to have a social life, before they could drive, it became a problem. And now our old bodies are finding the cold more difficult to cope with.

By the way, cold winters in Canberra are becoming an aberration rather than the norm. With climate change, there is a shift southward so gradually the Sydney type climate with greater humidity, etc is becoming more prevalent and noticeable. As an indication of that it has been quite a few years since there has been a very heavy cover of snow on the Brindabella Ranges. Way less than was the case in the 1970's.

I lurve using Property Manager Pro to do my IP taxes as it's so simple and straightforward ... but ... the program disc is around 15 years old (or more) and my modern computer somehow chucks the download off every time I do a computer update.

Gotta drag out the CD and external player every tax time ... just as well I'm a "print it out" kinda gal

I wasn't going to put my recycling bin out for tomorrow as there was hardly anything in it this morning. Not so when I went to put in packaging from a parcel which was delivered this afternoon.

    Thanks neighbours.

Must be tax time - receiving 2-3 spam "payment demand/login via link" emails from the (ahem bull****) ATO or MyGov on a daily basis.

Wonder how many people fall for these and end up pickled?

It's a little breezy in Sydney. Mrs No Mates asked if the clothes were dry & still on the line.

I said that they were but I would have to go down the road to find the line.

2 weeks ago I had to change a bulb in my car headlights. Job done (pain in the butt as I had to remove water reservoir, housing etc but it works.

Saturday night, the other light failed - Supercheap & the other spares places are closed due to lockdown

Should've bought 2 of them

Forgot to get the washing in yesterday. It is now raining and dryer will be working overtime. A certain someone is not happy. Of course, there is no need to say who is to blame. That is axiomatic.

Wait to get the second Covid jab - about 10 minutes.

But attempting to link my Medicare to my MyGov (to get access to my digital certificate) account didn't work, so I had to visit Centrelink.

    Wait - about 55 minutes.

I went for a walk this morning. Was it cold! Just right for snow to fall. In fact, I got a text from a friend who lives in the south of Canberra saying the Brindabella Ranges have a good covering of it.

@Scott No Mates, should he read this, will be weeping in pure frustration.
