@MTR we use a pool cover on our concrete pool and that does work really well. We used to have the solar heating stuff on the roof and it worked but it doesn't last long (maybe 4yrs) then needed replacing. We replaced it with an electric heater which looks just like an air con motor and it's brilliant. Low maintenance and doesn't actually use that much electricity. We use that to get an extra 4mths of use from the pool.

If you build a concrete pool get the pool cover which is concealed/built in. It does cost extra but it's sooooooo much better

Still working on this and will be getting quotes this week.

Another factor to consider is the colour of the pool.
I particularly like the very dark blue, I have a friend who has the colour, its very effective and with lighting in the evening... magnificent as per link

dark blue plunge pools the best colour - Google Search

Not sure which way yet. Have a recommendation from a friend, this pool company supply concrete and fibreglass. Will get them out after Easter I think now...and look at the area.

Its one step at a time.... there are so many other things that need to happen before this.

We want to change the fencing to brick and render it which will enhance the area. We need neighbour's permission to change fencing and prune back a tree on neighbours property.

This project is now being bigger than Ben Hur..LOL

Building the fence and the pool at the same time might work best as you don't want to have to dig a hole and wreck the new fence. Or do fence after the pool has gone in

Sand will get into the pool regardless.

I think best timing is dig hole, put pool in (fibreglass or concrete shell), take out fence, compact all the earth around it, new fence, finish off pool, pave

With new houses these days there is little access to the back garden so the pool (concrete or fibreglass) is going in before house is started building. It does get sand etc but its just the shell. It gets cleaned out and filled and finished off when the house is done.

I don't really know either, my husband will be building the brick wall/fence, I have no doubt we will end up with mortar, sand etc in the pool, messy person that he is:)

I continue my journey on trying to find the right pool supplier, the irony is there nearly all GET BAD REVIEWS.

    Can you believe it.

Found only 1 that seems OK to date.

I do find with reviews for anything that people are quick (super lightning fast) to give a bad review but it has to be AMAZING to give a good review. Hardly anyone says 'they did what they said that they would'

Ours is being built by Sam at Future Pools but is really really busy and can take days to get ahold of. Everyone that has used him loves him though.

Sounds like a pretty good price for everything.

I have not been to the pool show yet, this weekend, however the salesperson for Riverina said he would discount $500. The owner of the business was once a boat builder, these fibreglass pools are built stronger than the norm, we have 2 friends who have used them.

Landscaping, fencing will be outsourced, otherwise pay more.
