    Hi

A friend of mine is doing some FB advertising for me pro bono so that he has the chance to learn the intricacies of finance advertising.

He's worked with other industries just not finance so he's having trouble getting the ad approved because of the wording. The ad has finally been approved however he's had to change the wording (copy) significantly so that it doesn't resemble the original ad.

Does anyone have any experience in this area?

I do jot advertise on Facebook but we promote thought leadership articles.

The pictures you show as adverts basically cannot have words in them. A whole lot more than that - but facebook do kit want blatant adverts.

Pretty pictures with an interesting Tagline works.

Facebook advertising is pandora's box. Massive potential, lots of issues and pitfalls, and if you get it wrong you either lose money or get your ad banned (or account shut). All my BA business has come from referrals to date so I never needed it. But to support growth with new staff I have been looking into it and I do know several people totally nailing facebook ads in finance area. I can't just publish their IP on a forum but if your friend sends me a pm I can intro him to some people he should follow maybe he can work it out from there.

Facebook advertising has come a long way. Used to run them when I worked at media agencies - not personally over the past 3 years but still watch the space.

The amount of parameters you can target is mind boggling. Interest, keywords in their posts, number of kids in the family, age, gender etc.

The thought leadership approach works well, though in this field everyone does it. Top 10 tips, commentary on major news, things you should know.

There's plenty of freelance social marketing specialists around.
