    Hi all,
I am going to purchase this property but the bnp report says the house has potential mould issue and is in extremely high risk of termite attack.
Do you think it is still ok to purchase the property and remedy it myself? or is it better to back down?

    Both are rectifiable.
    Mould, fix the leak/improve ventilation
    Termites, why "high risk" ?
Is there an old tree stump nearby, evidence of non active termites, or just next to parkland ?

Termites live in Qld :) . I suspect the solution would be a pest treatment, and that is some $$ . If you allow for that you will be OK on the termite front as the B&P has not found active termites (or has it?).

Dealing with the mould is also something to factor in. Clean adn paint for example, and remediation of the problem (leaves in gutters? or whatever causing teh damp ).

We live in a hot country so damp can be fixed and mould can be remediated. Termites we have to live with, just need them not to eat your house :)

What makes the property predisposed to termites or mould?

What mitigation strategies can you adopt?

Are they an invasive species or just a subterranean termite?

I have termites living outside (where they prefer to be). I did put a chemical barrier in, but the house is 40 years old and they never ventured in. It was hardwood frame and brick, double brick.

It is a risk thing. I paid to eliminate the risk, previous owner didn't bother

    Dear AMC

Take a look at it from a different perspective and think like a termite!
    What do they like?
    What do they not like?
find out then let us know.
    I hope this helps.

In QLD ,there is an old saying about houses over 20 years old ,if they don't find any termite damage they are not looking hard enough..
