Love it ... along with bug protein ... but think I'd become a vegetarian first. Although, if I'm going to Star Trek .... all food is simulated from algae :)

There is an Australia seaweed that is now being tested for commercialisation that, if a small amount it added to fodder, can eliminate ruminant methane ... that's pretty awesome as livestock is in the top 10 for greenhouse gas emissions

I read somewhere recently that Toyota was working on something similar with a 1,000km possibility

I posted about it in this thread. You'll find that link a few back. The Toyota battery also charges competitively quickly, but not 5 minutes ... now to marry the two technologies and we're literally off and running

    Excellent.

World's first domestic hydrogen battery developed by Australian firm

Interesting take away at the end-
'future exporters of hydrogen would then have the problem of shipping, which Professor Aguey-Zinsou says could be solved by the hydride used in the LAVO system, which is safer and easier to transport than hydrogen stored under pressure or converted into ammonia'.

It's already done in some areas to extract methane for electricity production.

Has anyone ever said it should be 100% electric?

In any case, electricity CAN be produced via renewables. Petrol and diesel cannot.

A bit of a fun site. King Island Hybrid Energy. I don't know if it includes any solar array on residences - assuming they have one.

It does seem at first glance they have matched the demand with the various energy sources. Have to save a fair bit in diesel. Of course the site is in a pretty good location for wind energy.

Technically you can - ethanol (the E10 and E80 stuff from sugar) and biodiesel.

Every day - something new and exciting - technology is changing at an exponential rate (and we all know what exponential means) ... for the "fossils" time to wake up and smell the future

Nano diamond batteries could last thousands of years

"They say they've developed a self-powered battery made from nuclear waste that can last 28,000 years"
