Using that spreadsheet I cobbled together for this quarter (assuming the estimated distribution) the cash from STW is $17,231 and for this FY to date $53,532.

Nothing to get excited about. It will be capital gains from BHP rebalancing

That's okay, I'll happily accept the big div from a rebalance, I'm not proud:)

Are you able to explain in layman's terms how does BHP rebalancing (increase its weighting ) results in VAS getting more cash to distribute? Wouldn't capital agains result from VAS selling at a profit? But why would VAS sell if BHP's weighting has increased?

Also, with price of iron ore hovering around $150 big fat juicy dividends from miners will keep continuing. I fully understand it will end one day but until then I will happily take the cash and decide to spend or re-invest :D

Interesting. For STW the BHP action seemed to be close to a non-event. It's distribution didn't increase by such a remarkable degree as did VAS's.

They way I understand it is with BHP unifying its Plc and Ltd structures to the ASX it's weight on the ASX300 increases to 11%. To maintain the index, Vanguard would have to sell stocks 002-300 realising capital gains. They would try to avoid this through inflows and I understand they were also accumulating BHP on the London Stock Exchange in anticipation but some capital gains would be unavoidable.

I don't think Afterpay/Block would be as significant as one was being swapped for the other.

Just reading the Strong Money investment portfolio update

    upload_2022-4-1_10-21-46.png

Which is different from earlier posts that mainly featured LIC's

It's been interesting to read and see the changes as the blog progresses, similarly to Aussiefirebug I enjoy listening to the podcasts on both also, great when going for a walk, or whilst doing housework

Given he sold ARG to purchase a house, will be interesting to see what he invests in when he sells an IP. But yes, his portfolio has definitely changed from years ago.
