Eerrr..... ok. At least they aren't a total drain on the economy and are paying rent to someone?

I have to admit I had no idea who they are but it seemed to have worked for them.

Do you not know who that is?
Conor Mcgregor is showing that even in the hardest times when they were poor that dedication and passion for success saw them through it. He is talking in the past tense about how poor they were.
I think you should rethink this thread if you know nothing about them and think it's ok to denigrate them.

They were actually investing in a future capital gain. No different to anyone here.

I heard that james packer is worth half of what he was worth a year ago, but that shows that as much as we would like to always keep on increasing our personal wealth, we need to be aware that we can fall just as hard. I sometimes think some people live in their own little world and lose their compassion to their fellow men and really l say shame on you. The other day l was pretty gutted on reading an article about the elderly people in asia living in proverty and still working in their 80s in manual work to make ends meet.

Don't understand what people working in their 80's due to poverty in a country without welfare have to do with a guy in Dublin who is in the incredibly fortunate position to be born in a country that helps their downtrodden only to abuse the system as a way to not work so that he can go to the gym.

Agreed but then again there is a segment of the forum population for whom the almighty dollar and it's relentless pursuit above all else is all that matters

Can you please share how you come to the conclusion he will be maybe one of the richest if he fights Floyd.

Just for real facts.....if the fight did happen...he won't be anywhere near the richest athlete or richest boxer...that's if he stays alive after the fight.

But he has had to fight for every last cent :D

I'm going to make a small assumption here, but just imagine that someone on the dole renting a house at elizabeth told you they dont have time to get a job because they are too busy training to become the greatest MMA fighter in the world. I'd imagine that the thought in the back of your mind would not be extremely positive?

Dont get me wrong I'm a big fan of the guy but he could very easily still be a bludging dreamer without a job hitting the gym if things didnt go exactly to plan

Why would you even care what they did with their time as long as the rent was paid? There's no indication from the information above that it wasn't. I have better things to worry about. Good on him I say. Looks like it was a far better investment than working at say Coles.

It's the "had no job because I spent all the time at the gym"... Therefore living on unemployment benefits. I.e. living off tax payers.

Plenty of people do both (gym and job).

What if everybody decided to be just like him?

That's a separate question. I was replying from the perspective of a landlord owning that apartment as that was the question that was asked.

As a landlord if I couldn't get employed tenants I'd accept people on the dole. As long as the rent comes in and they have a good rental history.

no it wasnt, I just said they were renting a house in lizbeth, a ****** part of town. Plenty of people out there will gladly tell you they are mma fighters (even if they aren't). No mention of landlord or who they are renting from.

And yes it was a good investment for him, 1 person of the hundreds that would tell you the same thing.

It's much like someone on the dole skating, surfing all day or any other magnitude of things which is not working, telling you they are training to become a world class skater, surfer etc etc. a very slight percentage might actually do it
