I've gone 8,000 days without a drink, just not all in a row

So you started drinking when you were 11 years old?

I did read this book by Allen Carr and had high hopes for it, it works for many people and helps you realise how poisonous and unattractive all alcohol is, but it didn't work for me unfortunately still stuck in the pitcher plant

    How do you figure that?
But no, I've never technically had a 'legal' drink.

Edit: finally got it. You were implying 0-11yrs was my dry period. No, dry from 0-15, stopped drinking from 16. I'm now 27.

That's a shame it didn't work for you. I particularly loved the twist in plot that came later in the book when the book's title gets upended. I'm a sucker for a good logical argument and it has sworn me off the stuff for life.

I like a wine or cider because I like the taste as a wind down, or after a day of hard physical work. I don't like sweet drinks - drink a lot (a LOT) of green tea during the day so not keen on a hot drink of an evening - and also drink liters of water so, again, over it by evening.

On the positive not - only miss the wine while cooking dinner. Once that's out the way then I'm fine. Am eating more chocolate and icecream than before tho.

Might have to do a sugar-free-September

I have 2 glasses of whine after I get home from work pretty much every single day...never have one before 5.00pm, sometimes only have one glass, sometimes have a 3rd, and sometimes nothing at all, but usually two.

I know some folks might regard this as a drinking problem, but I dont see any problem with it whatsoever.

    Of course!!

However; if she is working an evening shift I have to do the hard yards and have one on my own while cooking the kid's dinners...it's a tough gig, but I manage to soldier on through. :p

    Guys

Having two x 330 ml each nite without a miss, would you consider it as "alcoholic". This does not include when barbeque with friends.

I lasted 7 days but I ruined it tonight and have got on the beers. Enjoying it now but I'll regret it tomorrow (I don't get hangovers just annoyed with my lack of willpower).

So now that July is over, anyone make it ?

I started my dry run late, July 24, and have not had a drink since then, a record for me. First week was difficult with some withdrawal symptoms, the body comes to expect alcohol and kicks up a stink when it doesn't get it. Envisioning alcohol as the toxic poison that it is helped, maybe that book did work.

    I play Drunk July.

1 bottle of wine a night for the whole month.

Gets really hard about a week in, but perseverance is the key.

I sleep well but work suffers, concentration lacks a bit too.
