    Hi,

I asked a handyman to give me a quote to fix a downpipe that is next to powerlines. It's been a week since his visit and I am still waiting for the quote. The guy told me he needs to get the power shutdown first then he can fix it. This is why he still couldn't get back to me. Anyone has this kind of issues before? Is it really that hard? How much will it cost to shut down power?

Will shutting down power be cheaper than installing tiger tails?

Tiger tail application can take a loooong time depending on your area.

If its insulated overhead supply ( black type ) to property then contact an electrical contractor and they will be able to install Tiger tail shroud.

Or ask electrical contractor to pull fuse on the street and then reinstate once down pipe works are completed. Best choice.

    Its very simple job.

If the cabling in question is un insulated high voltage aerial ( the stuff on the street ) you need to go through your local supply authority.
Worst choice and will take long time to be completed and cost will be highest.
Again, engage an electrical contractor do manage this part for you.
