I'm wanting to set up a web site for my work , with my name as the domain name , detailing my work place , hours and also some basic patient information .

Not wanting anything particularly high end , not wanting interactive site or any payments . Just basic info . Cheap and basic , though relatively professional looking

My preferred web site name is available .

Want to be flexible to move it to another host at later date.

Any suggestions of who to use ?

    Cliff

I recently built a website for a small business using Weebly, found it very easy to use (WYSIWYG editor) and you can download the source code to transfer the content if needed at a future time. $10/month to remove their ads.

I bought and redirected the domain name from GoDaddy.

Wordpress is fairly basic to use and has templates free to use. Plus you can get the .com through them

I'm using a free x10Hosting account, which has all the features I need (for non-business use), but does have restrictions and a somewhat annoying condition that you have to log into the control panel at least once a month otherwise they'll delete the account (but you get multiple email warnings first). There's no SSL either. I'm using it to host a couple of wikis (with one-click install scripts) and some other small community web pages, and the content is accessible with FTP and can be backed up and restored (manually, for the free account).

Their premium hosting service apparently removes all those restrictions, and seems to have good prices for unlimited space and bandwidth (prices are $US).

I also have a .com domain name purchased elsewhere and redirected there.

Google "Godaddy CEO elephant" - you may (or maybe not) change your mind about using their services.

Personally I use Directnic. Competitive prices, and their support is decent too.

I went to see A Night With Groucho the other night.

It was Groucho's character Captain Spalding who shot an elephant in his pajamas.
