Ronni is 7 now.. still playful but just a bit lazy... lousy at guarding the house.. welcomes everyone with a smile and always wags his tail happily.. he was a brat when he was a puppy.. chewed up thongs, sofa and ppl's hand!
Ha, tell me about it. If someone knocks on our door or open the gate Bix barks and sounds vicious but both of them will help the thieves carry the TV out then show them where the other valuable items are. Bix has his playful moments too, particularly on walks where people mistake him for a puppy because he jumps around excitedly when he comes across another dog. I bought a toy that they both love and that brings out playful Bix instead of grumpy old man Bix. I was really spoilt when Bix was a puppy. He was nearly the perfect dog. Didn't really chew anything he shouldn't have or push the boundaries once he learnt what they were but then Bailey came along.... It seriously took me a good 10 months to actually like her. She was a terrible puppy who chewed and destroyed everything in sight. Couple of expensive lessons learnt there.... When she turned 1 it was almost like a switch was flicked and she became a lovely dog who still destroys stuff on the odd occasion (never blame her) but now she's mainly the bringer of anything and everything which I can handle and is now is an absolute sweet companionable dog.
Welling up again here seeing people have so much love for their dogs (& cat). I posted about our old boy here previously so won;t go into details again, suffice to say he was my absolute best buddy and we lost him at 7.5 years old after a 10 month battle with cancer, during which time he also lost a leg to it. That's him in my avatar. Coming up 4 months since we said goodbye and I still catch my throat when when I think about him. To not know the love of a dog is to miss out on one of the greatest things in life. Those that have lost a dog will understand the crushing greif when you lose them and those that have never shared their life and home with a dog would likely not understand. Anyway, after saying we'd NEVER be able to have another dog after Huck went, we ended up with a 2 yr old rescue. He's had a tough start to life, he was a barely alive bag of emaciated skin and bone when he was rescued but he has a real sweet soul hidden away deep beneath several layers of absolute fear! He's making progress every day and it is so rewarding seeing him progress and see some of the good in the world. I can't wait until the day we see him wag his tail for the first time! He's been with us for 8 weeks now and the whole time his tail has been welded up under his belly :-( This is my old mate Huck, one of the last photo's of him the week he passed :-( I can never resist posting this one of him, about 4-5 weeks old snoozing on his mums face! ...and this sweet boy is Pluto, the basket case. So much sorrow in his eyes at the moment, but there's little sparks of cheekiness showing through in there too. He'll be a "Great" Dane one day too with enough love and patience.
This is Vixen our rescue Kelpie x Collie.. she has really come out of her shell and hopefully over her bad past. Hard to imagine life without her now. This is Daisy our foster dog. We've had her for about 4months now.. Another Kelpie x Collie who is incredibly smart and has taken on training very well. Anyone know of a friend/family looking to adopt an active dog in the south east QLD area, send me a pm or contact animals in need Animals-in-Need Rescue Refuge Brisbane Queensland Australia - Dogs Puppies Staffies
Love the photos of Brontus Beefcake! A couple weeks ago a workmate had their pug in the office (on a normal work day??).. My mood instantly lifted and I was in a happy mood for the rest of the day.. I'd like 'take your pet to work day' to catch on, but my two rascals would destroy the office
Huck used to come to work every day with me, as does Pluto now. He just snoozes all day on his bed in my office, you barely know he's there but it's nice company when everyone's gone home.
We have always had some unusual puppies. Here's my old girl who passed away at the end of last year. She was a blue healer cross jack russell Starting to think about a new puppy. We were going to look at something a bit bigger like a german pointer or a weimaraner.
Haha, all good @Starlite she looked like such a sweet dog, video is 3 years old, wonder what happened to her.
Far out, it's a good job I've got my own office @MTR @EN710 red eyes and wet cheeks aren't a good look for a burly 40 yr old ginger beared bloke!
