I don't know if consumers would be ready for higher prices, these days it fees like it's a race to the bottom.
But I would certainly welcome having the choice at least!

We do guys, our economy is done without it. Is there some other way to fix our reliance with China?

There’re still lots of electronics in Japan (and Korea). Whatever China has, Japan probably has too. Guess who the biggest consumer good for this group of products is? China

The fact they’re not sold in Aust says a lot about what the Japanese think about the Aust consumer, rather than the fact that Japanese have stopped making these products (ie the average Aust is not prepared to pay more for ‘quality’). Same as highest quality beef being sold to China and Japan.

Definitely a powder keg. China will allow autonomy if it is a benefit to Beijing.

The protests will likely achieve nothing but will destabilise and make Beijing less comfortable with autonomy. While it is a nice situation for the west and gives a chance to destabilise China none of it will benefit the people of Hong Kong.

US is now pulling out of trade deals with HK

    This is not good
To punish China, Trump begins to revoke Hong Kong trade privileges

Don’t see what this all leads to. The problem is the west including American corporations want to buy things that they think is biggest bang for value. And that happens to be Chinese products, despite the average person who may have nationalistic views about boycotting Chinese goods.

If they don’t buy from Hk, they buy straight from mainland China. If they really want to “punish” China they should stop buying Chinese products altogether or dealing with China altogether, although it goes both ways. How many American corporations and its people from Goldman Sachs to Blackrock make a living out of Hk/China. And yes things like A2 is easily replaceable.

Well things just got real bad.
China has issued a travel warning to Australia.
“Do not travel to Australia due to a significant increase in racist attacks on Chinese and Asian people”......

Seriously??? Half the population in Melbourne is Asian and I have not seen or heard of a single racial attack.

China is a bully and their actions over the years has clearly demonstrated that (don't get me started on espionage and cyber attacks against us) . Why our politicians still think we can build trust with them is delusional. Trade OK, at whatever level we as a nation are comfortable with, but trust......never.

Would say US may also be the bully here. Lol the kind of thing you just said is probably why China think Australia is racist. I would say they are not completely wrong

They clearly think Australia favours the US in the trade war, which to be fair, is also not wrong

Can Chinese travellers enter Australia now without being permanent residents? It is more a political show-off move imo.

Both the US and China are the bullies. But the US bully is more "educated" and does it in a more polite way than the China bully imo.

I don't think the majority of Australians have any issue with Chinese people. The issues they have are with the CCP. And I do not think it is racist.

Oh don't worry the Chinese Govt last night has just issued a travel warning to Australia due to racism and told them to not come to Aust.

Why's that? I thought people were considering leaving. Or do you mean the mainlanders are invading HK?
