Actually Xenia - given your history, this actually applies to you too.

    2016-08-05_10-36-18.png

This is exactly what DT just got told off for.

    Please don't do it.

For the sake of clarity, @D.T. @Jamie_ @MTR and @Xenia should all stop trolling / baiting / bullying / liking posts which disagree with each other.

    Rule #1: add value
Rule #2: be nice to people

Please don't - it is an abuse of the likes system and doesn't add any value to the site (see Rule #1).

I can clean up like-bombs with just a couple of clicks and have done so.

OK, I think the LIKE system is fine but would be nice if we could add a small comment easily and quickly.

I think something positive has come out of this thread, Sim already mentioned he will look at this. Brilliant if this happens:)

I don't think the like system is worth the trouble some people cause with it.

Thanks @Simon Hampel . As a fairly quiet user of PC (I read far greater than I post), I find PC to be very valuable, but the negativity/trolling/etc/etc.. lowers the overall quality of a great forum. As a public forum, hopefully those with a product/service etc to sell will remember that what and how they post could reflect on how others perceive them in a competitive market. Totally derailed the thread, but anyway.

It's only a very small number of people and there was past history which lead to the current problem - it wasn't the like system that caused it, that just became a tool that was used.

The vast majority of people use it exactly like it was intended.

I am unsure how this system works but with Vbulletin if you gave someone kudos/Reputation there was the box to place a personal comment.

Whilst negative Kudos/Reputation was disabled on a lot of forums there was still the ability to make negative comments to the member, so still abuse-able.

These comments are atleast visible to Admins and Mods.

Well, now I feel completely stupid.
Who knew there were all these undercurrents?
I have innocently been using the "like" for posts I, well, like?
And even if I disagree, if the post makes an interesting point then I will like it too.
And if I really, really don't like a post, then I guess I should admit to muttering "idiot!" and moving on....

    Great post @Marg4000

What is a quality post will be determined by the individual,if you like it great give it a like,if not move on and keep searching for more golden posts...which isn't hard to do as they are everywhere!!
