Rather than asking for a recommended mentor, get among the community of property, start speaking to people, learning/adding value etc and then have coffee's with people who are where you want to be..
I've found that a "formal mentoring" relationship rarely happens with too much intention. While you need to be intentional about planning goals etc saying to someone will you be more mentor, unless you're paying them, generally isn't the way it works

I agree with what you said. I need to find the relevant people to talk to. I recently know a friend who seems like property ‘expert’. However she only agrees to teach me only if I am her customer. She is running a property investment company.

This person is not your friend - you are just her potential client.

    There is a big difference!

A true mentor isnt your friend either :)

I know what you mean here in terms of positioning, but the mentor/mentee relationship needs to transcend friendship.

You need educate yourself to know enough to ask the right questions, and understand the answers.

If your looking for a doctor, at least be able to describe your symptoms and be willing to follow advice.

If a mentor would like to spent time talking to a newbie and mentor him/her, what’s the benefit for this mentor? I believe win-win situation. Otherwise, mentor would not commit to the mentoring time.

Most mentors dont have a direct financial outcome

    fact

hard for normal Peops to get their head and heart around, but its true in my world. I could never ever pay for the benefit I have received.

I listened to his webinar promoting 12 month mentor program. To be honest, I am very sceptical about ‘no money down deal’. It sounds easy in his program. But who will invest money with an inexpericed person or ‘dad’ ‘mum’ investors? If I would find a partner to do investment, i would do a lot of research and find a experienced person with good reputation. I think there is no quick and easy money.

    yes and no

Our beliefs will limit our risk and our growth.

the same societal conditioning that "keeps us safe" ....... keeps us safe..............

Lets Think of some common western sayings that condition us for safety. We can all complete the following, yet we dont believe that we believe.

    • A bird in the hand...........
    • Better Safe than ............
    • Beggars cant be...........
    • Better the devil .................
    • You cant teach an old dog ...........

    And on it goes

I am very certain that other cultures have the same

lets think for a minute how literal interpretation of such concepts would change our history.

    • Would Captain Cook ever have left the shores of Devonport ?
    • Would Yuri Gagarin have the faith to be the first man in orbit
    • Would Borman, Lovell and Anders be the first to visit the dark side of the moon.
    • Facebook, Microsoft, Amway, Space X, Qantas, etc in the business world - weeny ideas, yes a bit of luck, but tonnes of risk.
    • Indescribable medical advances
    • AI that is getting scary good ( or bad)

While I believe there is great value in many of our olden values and sayings, we need to think how they may affect us, and not just accept them as rules of physics - because they are indeed NOT.

Objectively, the majority of today's respected leaders have the opposite view on risk. Risk is a necessary seed of greatness.

One of my Faves is John Maxwell's concept of " failing forward" combined with Jim Rohn's many faceted "Law of the Farm".

For some people, the 'warm and fuzzies' that they get from helping another person is enough, and many jobs are like that.

Teachers, nurses, social workers, and many others who work in the field of helping others, certainly don't do it only for the money - many jobs that help other humans are some of the lowest paid jobs there are (as a teacher, I worked out that if I included all the unpaid hours I worked each week and then calculated my real hourly rate, some of my students with part-time jobs in retail and hospitality actually earn more per hour than I do!).

But I love working with the kids. Seeing those 'light bulb' moments can be incredibly uplifting, and no price can be put on that.

What Rolf said is very motivating. It really reminds me of my dream when I was young. I would like to take more risk when I was young. As time going and more things on the shoulders, I tried to put myself in a relatively safer cave. I don’t mind to take risk, but we try not to let our family take too much risk. Life is completely a risk. We can not avoid it. It is really nice to hear from Rolf. Very motivating and exciting. Feel I have long way to go, more things to learn from here.

    Rolf is spot on!

If you really think hard about it, there was time in your life when a "Mentor" appeared and gave you advice and was ready to guide you, however you may have felt, "what do they know?", "who are they?", "I don't want to bother them" etc and just let them slip on by.

A Mentor is willing to give you their time and assistance, but the question is, are you ready to receive it! As excuses comes up time and time again. I'm tooo busy, I have to go to my kids rehersal, I've got family coming, I don't have the money, I want to get into a better position first etc etc etc...

You will have to fix your mind first, before you can fix your financial situation.

As Rolf had said your limiting beliefs stop you from moving forward.

All great deals are built from Relationships and Confidence, if you don't have confidence in yourself to find the right answers then how is an investor going to be confident in you.

How do you become confident? Learn Learn Learn and Research Research Research. Understand the Market, know who is the best players in the area, how much it costs to do a build, what are the numbers and costs, who has got multiple DA approved in the area, get multiple quotes and referers. Do the things that most people don't have the time or willingness to do and present your potential money partners with your results as well as contact numbers so that they can do their own due diligence.

Real Estate Agents, Builders, Developers, Investors become professionals after many years of learning and research, so if you want to become a professional than you will need to put in the effort, and no it doesn't have to cost you anything as you have seen in PC, there are books, there are councils and there are many people who are happy to give you the information.

The only thing that stops people is that first step, the second step, jumping through that hurdle, falling into a pothole then getting back up to take another step.

I came to PC looking for ways to better my understanding of property investment. I spend hours a week on here reading old posts, going from post to post then searching for information via the search tab, this has given me an abundance of new knowledge and research power! One way or another Everyone on here is kind of a mentor not directly but we are. Based off searching I’ve come across this post and have just made contact with Rolf’s business as I think what he’s offering can really steady my ship and help me reach my goals a lot more steadily and structured.
