Hello, quick question the money I get back from origin roughly $300 a quarter from my solar panels is that tax free? Surely I don’t have to declare that as income? If so isn’t my solar panels an expense with depreciation?.

Give 'em time. Gotta sort out imputation of rent on the family home first. :D

    What about Qantas rewards points?

I got a pair of sunnies. Wonder if I should get the hack saw out, cut 30% off and send it with my tax return.

That'd be ~900,00 points for a set of sunnies these days. That's a lot of flights @datto, what's going on?

The ATO consider that the credits received for your residence are non-assessable. However where the premises are used to produce income even in part (eg a GF) the receipt is assessable to the extent it relates to income production. This depends who receives the credits. If it is the tenant then its non-assessable to the landlord. If the house is your home its non-assessable. If there is a GF that is rented an apportionment for the assessable % is required.

    LOL More like 9000.

Those top end sunnies won't last 5 minutes in the Druitt.
