Same as those who "sell" you the name of a star at the birth of your child ... sorry ... the star is not named after your child, no matter what the receipt says.

In fact NASA called it 53894TJ

This is funny, but very far from what is actually happening IMO.

There are so many ways to showcase what you own with the blockchain providing irrefutable proof of it's provenance in a way that has never been possible before (sans centralised verification).

Imagine someone stole the Mona Lisa, then mixed it among 100 other hand painted replicas by expert forgers. You could get an expert in to give you their opinion on which is the original, but at the end of the day you are relying on the opinions of others to tell you which is the original. They could be bribed, lead you astray with the intent to secure the original for themselves, or make a mistake. In the NFT art market, ownership of an original can be confirmed with much higher probability, by anyone who has common sense and a few minutes to check some key details.

I have branched out into this space a little more and started building up a collection (beyond Yats).

Mainly I've just bought pieces that I like visually and where I want to support the artist. Typically smaller artists with a growing audience creating 1/1 pieces that are part of a boutique collection. I've bought some pieces which have risen in value 5-10x over a month even as crypto was diving.

A few of my favourite collections at the moment:

The Lxveless: https://opensea.io/collection/the-lxveless (Disclosure: I own some)
Hypnos: https://opensea.io/collection/hypnos (Disclosure: I don't own any yet, but do own other work by the same artist)
Astronauts: https://opensea.io/collection/astronaut-s (Disclosure: I own some and working with the artist on another project)
Under Wraps: https://opensea.io/collection/underwraps (Disclosure: I own some)

NFTs are going to allow interaction with artists, online community building, and distribution, ownership, and showcasing of art in ways that hasn't been possible before. It's pretty exciting to see what is happening in this space and how artists are able to turn what they love doing into a way to create an income for themselves.
