    Hi All,

I have a small 12sqm alfresco area which I would like to deck out. Initially I was just going to look at decking over the alfresco area, however if I extended the deck outwards more to the start of the pool area as well as to the eaves it will give me a 20sqm area.

I just got a couple of questions..

1: Are there any suggested materials should I should consider i.e. hardwood, synthetic etc
2: Should I consider drainage? It can get a little boggy between alfresco and pool area after heavy rains

I was considering tilling the alfresco area with matching pool tiles, but wasn’t sure what I was going to do between the alfresco and pool transition. The tiles are also quite light, so dirt might show up quite a bit if I tiled alfresco area with light tiles.

Any suggestions, advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Robbie

Probably best to first concrete the extra area at the same height as the patio to give you a flat, even surface.

Most durable and easy care would be non-slip tiles.

So are you suggesting tiling opposed to decking?

    It’s a personal choice.
Tiling is more durable, decking will probably need maintenance.
