The downside of Amex Platinum Charge card is the annual fee of $1200 per year. Not cheap I know, but if used correctly your frequent flyer points + all those premium hotel status + Australia/International Lounge Access etc would easily cover the annual fee.

Pretty useless. If you want lounge access get a membership or book bus class.

So has anyone achieved any good results by paying bills on credit cards?

Certainly not great for lounge access, seems pretty good on points though which I'm addicted too.

I just use Commbank credit card as there's no yearly fee with their wealth package. Come with MasterCard and Amex card - Amex earn more points when you use them. It might not be the best out there, but no yearly cost plus I got at least half my petrol paid monthly just by using it for regular spending. Can use it for travel points but I don't think that's the best use

Well if you want unlimited lounge access you would need:

    - American Express Platinum Charge Card: Unlimited Priority Pass lounge entry worldwide, unlimited entry to Virgin Australia lounges, unlimited entry to American Express lounges.
    - Citibank Prestige Visa - Unlimited Priority Pass lounge entry world wide

I always pay bills on credit cards. Then I just pay off my balance each month. That is one of the way to earn quite a lot of points.

Some people with business actually pay their BAS on their Visa/Mastercard. Whilst there is a fee/surcharge involved, the points earned are worth far more than the surcharges paid.

I have paid a $150k tax bill on my card before wasn't even my bill.

I currently have a Black ANZ Rewards card and a platinum Amex card.

I use the platinum Amex for shopping and petrol and the anz for everything else. Unfortunately in February the anz will no longer earn points at ATO so that may spell the end of the card for me. Not many left that do though.

Does flying a family return to Europe count? Took me 12 months to alas the points.

Also got enough points to fly us all to LA return at the moment six months after the Europe flight.

I pay for everything with card but the big points come from changing cards every 12 months sign on bonuses, paying large land tax bills (small surcharge) and council rates (no surcharges) on development projects that I manage.

If I owned a PM firm like you I'd be flying Singapore Suites or Emirates Residence everywhere with all the clients bills you get to pay. you could have a charge card your bookeeper uses and then reimburse it.

I agree. It really is a awesome way to fly Suites around the world. I love Singapore Air Suites, even I am happy with business class on Cathay Pacific/Singapore Air.

Unlimited Krug and Dom whilst on the air ....... how good is that!

PS: When you said Residence, I think you meant Etihad (Emirates Suites is still amazing) However their Residence (ridiculously good: 1 living room, 1 bathroom and 1 bedroom for yourself) cannot be used for flight award redemption, but their Apartments are available. Really amazing stuff:

    First Residence

It's pretty crappy. A quick google search says there is only one Priority pass lounge in Australia. Better than nothing I guess. The Qantas club has lounges at all major airports and many minor airports in Australia. Covers me in Australia and for international flights I get lounge access included in the fare.

Was dreaming unfortunately I don't generate enough points to do it at that level for four to five peeps. If it was just my wife and I different story.

Krug in the air would certainly be something else to my two year old vomiting on the last flight.

I found Virgin Australia lounge very similar quality to Qantas Club in Australia, and Amex Platinum Charge provides that.

Of course if you are referring to Qantas International First lounge, then of course it is not comparable. However you cannot use Qantas Club membership to get into F lounge either. Either OneWorld Emerald membership or flying First Class on OneWorld airlines can get you into F lounge.

I think a little Krug would do wonders on a two year old, would help them fall asleep well :D
