At last, the pin dropped. What a drawn out, boring process to lead to an outcome!

Next, who refused initial request for ADF to buttress quarantine?

You mean to say they can't find the signature of the person responsible who signed off on a $140 million security contract.

Let me know when they get another $140 million contract like this going again .I'll be the first to
offer my services since there is no responsibility taken.

It really is sad to see her go. For what it's worth, Jenny was well loved in our industry. She had tremendous support she could always count on and was herself very supportive of healthcare workers. What makes this even harder is the fact that Dan has just as much, if not more support down here as well.

When our organisation was hit hard by COVID-19 a number of our staff across three campuses caught the virus and had to self-isolate in hotels for heroes, away from their families. You'd think a few would have grievances towards the Premier but you'd be wrong. More than anything else is the understanding that everything he did was to protect not just our healthcare system but Victorians as well. I remember a few weeks back there was a callout made to our nurses to see if any were interested in having a virtual meeting with the Premier and the response was pretty overwhelming. You'd think a celebrity was coming to town.

It's sad to see Jenny go but I wish her all the very best wherever life takes her. She'll be missed. :(

It could have been a Dept head who took the decision and the the State Govt Ministers

I don't think there will be too many who believe that Dan Andrews was unaware of who made the decision to
I make no commentary on the rights and wrongs of where responsibility lay but the health union doesn't appear to share your opinion on the ex-Ministers suitability. Certainly not missed by their leadership. Wherever that responsibility lay, I will offer the comment that in a Dan Andrews Govt, on such a flagship programme, it is inconceivable he was unaware of what was happening and why.

TBH , l know we've done so well but after the explosion that happened last time , sorry guys l know everyone's chomping at the bit to reopen , but it's a pretty scary thought right now. At the same time l believe any country or state has to bite the bullet and push the envelope as soon as it's under control can't stay hidden away from it forever butttttt !

I respectfully disagree. The HWU (although a legitimate union) isn't really worthy of being called a Union in my opinion. It is very well known within our sector what exactly goes on inside this organisation. I would go so far as to say that it is the single most corrupt, dysfunctional and useless organisation I have ever come across. The only people I feel sorry for are the hard working members who pay the salaries of the bullies who run this organisation. I would also point you to the close relationship between Ms. Diana Asmar (secretary of HWU) and Adem Somyurek whom I think we all remember being unceremoniously sacked by Dan Andrews not too long ago.

If we're talking about Unions then the big ones like the ANMF and AHPA all supported Ms. Mikakos. In fact it was the head of the powerful ANMF who came out swinging on behalf of Minister Mikakos after the HSU attack and she again stood up today to farewell the Minister and made a very tearful tribute and thanked her for all her hard work and dedication throughout the last few years.

Powerful nurses' union defends Mikakos amid call for resignation

'Bitter, brutal and cruel': MPs, unions react to Mikakos' resignation

I have no opinion on the ex-Ministers suitability or performance, only posting an alternative opinion to yours that was publicly made from another party with a relevant interest and association with the ex-Minister. The internal health politics are for others to be concerned about and above my 'pay grade' to know.

From what I have seen of unions, both inside and out, in this day and age of employees and employers getting on without the help of the middle man ... it appears to be their role to be contrary and argumentative even when employers are working in employees best interests

That is a very fair assessment and one that I agree with.

My local eaterie will be disappointed that outdoor dining hasn’t been allowed. Three more Wednesday takeaway sweet and sour chicken.

The moral of the story appears to be if you are going to do it, at least make sure one person in the group is coronavirus positive - the large gatherings that led to the spike at lockdown 2 and the spike from two weeks ago appear immune from any consequences..
