Our most recent build was because the builder looked over the property (lovely old 1924 weatherboard) and declared it would be cheaper to demolish and rebuild the same style back again - with all the mod cons - than try and renovate, and extend, the existing house.

    So we did.

Now have insulation in every wall/ceiling - e-glass windows all facing the right way - new plumbing - drop slab with in floor electric heating (fed from solar) - modern durable materials - and everything straight and true ... and it's in keeping with the location

Tha sound more like a knockdown rebuild. Its often easier to finance a KDR than a costly reno as valuation of the finaished build is easer.
