    yeah ive read about it,
I donate monthly to an animal charity and they often send photos and newsletters on how bear bile is extracted,

While location finding on a phone can be turned off (if it's turned on your movements could later be tracked by somebody with access to your phone), you can't use say Google Maps without location finding.

You can turn off location finding for specific App - it's probably a good idea to do that. You don't want every single app having the ability to always know where you are.

Location finding is used for many things. In the building industry, there are apps which can tell where each worker is on a building site. When my wife uses her phone to attend a worksite (different industry) the app checks to ensure she is at the right place.

Edit: sorry to be off topic - just to show the location capabilities and possibilities of an app which could be used for people tracking.

I don't think the "Number of Cases" is really relevant anymore, you are going to get it!
Due to the fact that a large percentage of infected people only get mild symptoms, they probably will never even get tested. With the way it is spreading, most of us will get it, and get better a few days later.
What is trying to be done is to slow it down so those that become serious, don't get it all at once and overload hospitals. That's what "flattening the curve" is all about.

    Yes your right.

We are just trying to slow it down as our health system would not cope

    Germany
60% to 70% of the German population will be infected by the coronavirus, Merkel says

And yet , yet they are holding elections in Queensland as we speak and they are expecting a million people to be out on the street. Great that they completely shutdown the state.

I'm just hoping that after all this is done, people taking such decisions are held responsible.

Distances are going to be enforced.

As long as people adhere to this, wash their hands, don’t touch their face and bring their own pencil it’s very low risk.

There’s probably more risk at the supermarket.

Distances are not being enforced at pre-polling. My middle son went to pre-poll yesterday and there was a line up 50m long, people not keeping a suitable distance. He turned around and came home. Same when we tried to pre-poll 18th March. We didn't stop either.

It would be good to hear about how things are at the polling booths today. We won't be voting. My son and partner won't be voting. I doubt my other two sons and partners will vote due to immune issues. A friend and her husband who has just gone through chemo will not be voting.

And you do need to eat so a visit to the supermarket is essential (seeing online shopping is not working right now). But voting isn't essential, certainly not today.

My nephew will be married next weekend... bride and groom, celebrant and two witnesses (bride's father and groom's father). Mothers not allowed. But they can go and stand in a line with hundreds of others to vote. Crazy!

(They could go in their active wear, take a yoga mat and call themselves a boot camp and five more people could attend.)

It just reinforces the point that the government doesnt give a toss about you or your health, it is only interested in votes in its ongoing popularity game.

Won't you get a fine for not voting ? I'm in a different state and can't get back to vote so that's my excuse

In more ordinary circumstances, a reasonable excuse was enough to stop getting a fine. They would send a please explain, and if your reason was sufficient, you wouldn't hear from them again.

I'd be surprised if they even sent out the please explain letters this time, but it's possible.

I don't really care. If they try to fine me I'll give them the facts. If that doesn't work, I'll pay the fine. Cheaper than a funeral.

To be honest, that's exactly what I would be doing, if I was in the same situation. If it's good enough to vote, then it's damn good enough to see my child get married.

    You sure?

Committng economic suicide to save a large portion of the population sure seems to me that they're thinking about more than just votes here.

Even the countries that don't have democracy are still shutting down in order to save people.

Dead people dont vote (well....they arnt supposed to) and their voting relatives would possibly have an opinion if they thought the governments actions or inactions led to that persons passing.

But you are right, they also care about squeezing as much tax from you as possible and then getting you to thank them if they then decide to give some of it back to you. They also use that tax to employ people in bloated departments to reduce the unemployment levels to delude you into thinking they are doing a great job and a myriad of other underhanded practices that they perform on a daily basis for the simple goal of reelection.

They dont care, never have, never will. :)

Can't tell if you are serious. It's abundantly clear that Dan Andrews and Gladys Berejiklian are leading our country's response because of the federal leadership vacuum.

Apologies if you were being sarcastic. :D
