Where the mutation began is contentious, what isn't is that that the first recorded case was in a US military base. The US troops would've spread it all over the world due to WW1.

I'd question a member of parliament being an authoritative source, but it shows where the information came from.

We really do need another option outside like for some posts ...

That article is really a bit of an eye opener .

I had two patients who are travelling to Samoa ( or so they hope ) . They require a letter from a Dr ( ie me ) saying they don't have Corona Virus . I sent them for a throat swab and will talk to the pathology company and maybe medical defence tomorrow .

There was a spate of requests from some schools for similar letters a couple of weeks ago . We were quickly reminded that there is no way to say someone doesn't have a particular virus . I already told the people I saw this .

    Sigh ...

I can only see it getting worse from here .

I don't think middle America had any idea what could happen . I'm on an active web site which is basically populated by middle America and there hasn't been one single comment or post about it . Just business as usual ....

Yes, America is a big unknown.. lots of poor people, health care is expensive, and an element of anarchy could spring out of nowhere. US has 53 reported cases, but fairly under control presently (it seems).

There is some interesting stuff on reddit.. but you have to take some reports with caution.

If it hits the issue there will be chaos.....if the China and USA economies as well as Japan....are down....then it is game over...recession is imminent.

Does water go off? I still have some very large bottles that I bought 16 years ago during the SARS scare. Or was it swine flu? Anyway they're still in the bottom of the pantry.
So I can't do any panic buying this time because my husband will laugh at me.

Bottled water sold at a supermarket has a Best By date on it. Never been sure if it relates to the water or the bottle.

I'd be more worried about the plastic breaking down etc - but I am sure history will prove me wrong when some archaeologist discovers an unopened bottle of Mt Franklin 300 years form now, opens it and drinks it....:eek::eek::eek:

Every foodstuff product sold "has" to have a best by date ... maximum of 2 years from production ... that's why 10,000 year old salt suddenly is going to be "no good" in a year or so after being put in a jar

Was interested to see the death rate on the other thread - around 4% of confirmed cases

So, I'm not a "the sky is falling" type of person, but with hundreds of thousands sitting 90% in cash that we will be using within three months for our build, if the economy (here or elsewhere) is in trouble, are we better to get get it out of super now? And if we do, we'd put it in our bank. Is that any safer?

If the view is cash is worthless in super then it's equally worthless outside of super.

If the worry the super could be frozen by fund or Government there is no reason that couldn't also apply to cash held personally in a bank.

It’s the bottle, the plastic will leach chemicals into the water eventually. Apparently.
