    Hi,

I am thinking of putting concealed cistern suite for my new toilet because of the limited space I have. What are you guys' opinion on this type of cistern? What is a 'reasonable' price for this system? I saw they range from 800-1500+. Any brand recommendation? Apart from the obvious benefit of good looking and space saving, is there any deal breaker cons? Is it difficult to repair when it breaks (e.g. break into the wall to fix it)?

    Thanks

they are easy to repair, make sure you get a license plumber to install it though no handyman. (as it's going to be in the wall)

deal breaker at 800-1500 seems to be price.

    Cheers, Elives

Thanks Elives. The price I got are from department stores like HN, BN. Found some 'cheap' ones on ebay like this for 419 http://r.ebay.com/VRSnYc

Not sure about the quality. This price is expensive for traditional toilet suite. But would it be too 'cheap' for concealed version? Any recommendations? Thanks

We put in an in-wall cistern to maximise space in our bathroom. I wanted a wall hung pan as well, but a huge steel beam in the wrong place put paid to that idea.

The brand we chose was Geberit, after quite a bit of homework. It can be accessed if needed through the flush panel. At worst, if we had to do something that cannot be fixed via the flush panel, we would cut the plasterboard in the bedroom behind and patch it.

I went with that brand because it seemed to me to be the best and most reliable. I love it.

Don't know what brand mine was, I bought the house new but it was generally a very high end finish, and the wall was tiled so only access was through the flush panel . I loved the look but the one repair I had done on it was really expensive ...

I wouldn't be going with an ebay toilet - unless it still came from a bricks and mortar store and it was proven to be Watermarked and meets all plumbing regulations (ie Australian standards). No plumber will install a non watermarked toilet.

If you want to do it economically then look at the Mondella Concerto range at Bunnings. You can get the cistern and pan for around $600

Mondella White WELS 4 Star 4.5 / 3L Concerto Back To Wall Floor Pan

I recently saw one at Reece that had the cistern built into the pano_O
It uses a small built in pump to (i am guessing) flush
Cool idea, and no cutting into walls
    Expensive though :(

I have inbuilt cisterns and wall hung toilets. My house was built 40 years ago. They still work perfectly. Unfortunately the cistern size is no longer available, as the new cisterns hold less water, to accommodate a smaller flush. This means replacing both the toilets and the cisterns. I am putting it off as long as possible as the wall hung toilets are fantastic, so easy to clean underneath

See, I'm possibly buying an IP (paid the holding deposit) and may add an ensuite.
It's a 3/1/1 but making it a 3/2/1 would be a great positive change for this property.

I would not be putting anything that holds water and has seals in a wall, water is the one headache in any building, also anything that is harder to work on or replace is to be avoided, if it is your home and the costs and possible downfalls do not bother, then go for it, stick with known brands so you can buy parts in years to come.

Dabbler - it just has a panel over the cistern in the wall .... you simply lift the panel out and can work on the cistern the same as if it was exposed.

Yeah, I understand that, I also understand it may some some space if really required, I prefer practicality over cosmetic/trends most times :)
