AFL- Saints, NRL- Storm, EPL- Liverpool. Still have the passion... nice quiet evenings at home with a bottle of red during Melbourne winters watching sports.. can't beat that .

Next to the word "faith" in the dictionary there needs to be a photo of a St Kilda supporter :(

I was not quite four years old when they last won the flag

Funnily enough when I first moved to Melbourne in the late eighties I had the option of choosing either the Hawks or the Saints. If I went with the Hawks I would have seen 7 flags!

What an excellent win from an excellent team. Only sad part was the players on the sidelines.

    Demons depth is scary.

Favourite demons player is Jackson, what a legend.

My dad followed them for many years. He passed away a few years ago.

He was so happy when they made the eight. He would have been so happy seeing them win last night. He waited long enough.

I decided to follow Essendon as a boy. It was probably my first step towards independence.

Gawd, I was 14 years old when they last won the flag. Last night was a belated birthday present.

I played AFL as a young fella and never got the following a team bit, however, I nominated East Fremantle as my time as that was the district I played in and West Coast Budgies, for obvious reasons.

Family background is South Melbourne and the entire family apart from me were fanatical Swan supporters. Made for interesting times when the Dees played them.

Although I'm an Eagles fan, I bought a Melbourne scarf and cheered them on loudly at both the Prelim final and Grand Final.

We were sitting behind some genuine Melbourne fans - and I really enjoyed watching their emotions throughout - when they looked like they were coming back, and then looked like they might possibly win, and then they definitely were going to win.

They were so stressed, then hopeful and ultimately relieved, disbelieving and excited.

In addition to the football, the entertainment event was awesome.

Wow seeing those Melbourne die hards in front of you go through the range of emotions would have been amazing.

I'm here in NSW but I don't have an AFL team as such. Been watching AFL grand finals for years. I usually go for the club that hasn't won it in ages (Richmond a few years ago, Sydney Swans 2005 etc) and on Saturday I wanted Melbourne to win it.

How they turned that game around from being behind and about to drop their bundle, to not only coming back.. but storming to such a commanding performance and lead... it would've been absolute heaven for all Melbourne fans. Congrats... fully deserved.

As for the entertainment...... the AFL pre-game, half time and, in previous years, post game... is always great and fitting for such a big occasion.

Two AFL teams turned up at the Grand Final yesterday. Only one of them decided to play. Congrats to Geelong. Well done.

The rookies don’t get much say if any now as clubs get to pick based on their order in the draft. It’s the ones that have “served their time” that get the opportunity to set up their lives post football. That’s a good thing (why should they be restricted from making money by their profession) and still limited by salary caps to prevent domination by the richer clubs. I think nowadays we are all used to it and follow teams more than players or at least we are used to them moving on.
The first AFL legend of the game Barassi did it in the 60’s.
