    Hi all,

I recently had a circuit breaker fault at my investment property on a Sunday.
The tenants arranged for an emergency repair as they had no power to the fridge etc.

The electrician attended the house and replaced the breaker for $430.
I'm aware it's a Sunday, but it seems very expensive. Interested to see if others have paid such a premium price for emergency work on a weekend.

    Thanks

You got completely ripped if all they did was replace the circuit breaker/ rcd its a 15 min job.

There could be more to the story but if thats all they did id be giving them a call.

Rcd / breaker cost is $30

Plus the Sunday call out fee of $400.

Did it have the old fashioned circuit breakers or the newer type RCD .
Most electricians will now refuse to repair/replace the old type and RCDs have to be fitted, and its a complete upgrade with all the old circuit breakers being replaced..

    That's cheap.

Weekend call-outs for tradespeople are extremely expensive- they don't want to work the weekend and they will charge for the inconvenience.

Well, I got in touch with them.
I was told that they booked 2 hours to the job. After they checked the vehicle usage, they found he was only there for 1 hour, and so they adjusted the invoice....

You will get taken for a ride nearly always unless you ask and have finger on the pulse....

PM and trades do not usually care about *your* costs
