    Could you please share a link to the product and where to get them?
    Also, do you need to drill into the door frame to install this?

    I've got an issue where I can punch out some decent reps of chin ups palms facing in, along with hammer grip, but a pull up with palms facing out is near impossible.

    Gym rings can be a very good alternative to chin up bars. I've got them installed in m garage and they work great. Gives plenty more flexibility exercise wise than a chin up bar

    Just search on eBay for "doorway chin up bar". They're a screw-type extension bar that pushes sideways into your door frame. They will dig into the paintwork somewhat, so be careful.
    And as Ace said, don't do weighted stuff on it. The $50 cheapos have flimsy plastic on the ends, and not really worth it.


    Get a proper stud/brick mounted rig instead:

    No drilling required but it will dig into paintwork like what was mentioned. I also recently bought one like in Jamie's link - it gives more grip options. It also seems to dig into the door framing a bit though.

    One thing I cannot do is a wide grip chin up - I guess it just needs more lat strength.

    Likely a mobility issue with external rotation or thoracic extension.

    I'm in the wrong thread.

    I thought a chin up bar was a pub where people told you to be happy.

    It hurts my right wrist, probably more a general weakness in my back muscles? Doing 10 normal or hammer chin-ups is fine and have moved on to weighted now.

    I find push ups are more to my liking.

    If you get tired you can do them on your knees (just beware of carpet burn).

    A great addition to the chin up bar is a pair of these. Great for releasing compression on the spine and additional exercises:
