    Both of these articles seem to be attacking the strawman that feminists believe that men and women are the same, or that equality means 50-50 representation.

    I don't know any feminist who advocates either of these positions.

    Men and women tend to have different interests. That doesn't mean we should discourage individuals from pursuing any career that appeals to them by stereotyping occupations.

    Regardless of what occupations are in demand from men or women, everybody should have an equal chance of applying and treated equally for the same work. To some extent, it may be that, by restricting one gender from entering a profession, the demand increases.

    If fewer women (or men for some.professions) end up entering the profession, that's not an argument for restricting them. Give everybody an equal opportunity, and equal selection criteria, and let things happen naturally. People shouldn't be prejudged based on gender, race, religion, age or anything else - the ability to perform the job properly should be the first criterion for being allowed into a job.
