Some people insist on signing every page of a document.

It would be safer stopping someone from slipping in a modified page into the contract later on and claiming that was the original contract.

The other party to the contract later modifying a page of the contract with a clause they have amended themselves and then putting their and your initials next to them. Then claiming that that is the original contract that has been signed.

I mean that is just straight up fraud, and presumably you can protect yourself by keeping a copy of the contract yourself.

I've only dealt with this professionally once and we produced my client's copy, and invited the other side to adopt our version given the "innocent mix up" of contract versions.

If they didn't go with our version, the next step we had planned was full reporting of fraud to the relevant authorities.
