There used to be software that would detect a cat walking across the keyboard and block it.

    Edit: Here it is!

Good old Windows 95 (by the looks of it)!

When I was training for a secure organisation, anybody who left their computer unattended had their screen image flipped upside down, or something similar. They had to apologise in front of the class before the trainer would flip the image back.

Old Dells used to be CTRL + ALT + direction key, from memory.

By the way, to lock your computer, simply press windows + L.

We used to take a screen shot of their desktop and set it as the wall paper, then close everything.

They'd be madly clicking on icons and applications, wondering why nothing was responding.

Back in 1996, I had a very mean tutor. He left his Unix machine on. The program we used allowed us to configure or create new commands. We changed his 'Dir' to 'Del All' :D

There used to be some good tricks to play back in the day ............

There was one where that would make the letters fall off the end of the line into a heap at the bottom of the screen when typing (hilarious). As well as more simple ones where one changes the keyboard so that no keys match their markings (DVORAK) or the surprise messages that pop out on the screen with certain keystrokes ........

One could also have a lot of fun with a colleague or partner by adding a hidden wireless mouse .... see also https://www.howtogeek.com/57552/the-10-most-ridiculously-awesome-geeky-computer-pranks/

It is the new and improved one. The cat in @Momentum post wasn't modeling it correctly. In the above model, you can see that the cat is looking straight ahead. And what a cute kitty it is.
